Buying safely
What to check when buying a home on wheels in another country.
Check the paperwork before the money. Every country has its own rules: in one place a motorhome is registered as a truck, in another as a caravan, and that decides taxes, insurance and whether you may take it across a border. Find out the requirements in advance.
Inspect the vehicle yourself, or through someone you trust. Photos in a listing can be two years old. Pay particular attention to traces of damp in the corners, the state of the roof and its seams, and whether the gas and electrical equipment works.
Never wire a deposit to a seller you don't know. A request to pay a "reservation" fee before an inspection is the most common scam in vehicle listings. Nobody ships a motorhome by post.
Match the body and unit numbers against the documents and check the history in local registries. In many countries that is a public and free service.
Remember that we show a listing exactly as the seller published it on the source marketplace. Confirm price, availability and condition on the marketplace side before doing anything.
